I remember
sidelong glances
kisses in the cold
butterflies and eskimos.
I remember
futures planned
todays lived
laughter and tears
pain and joy.
I remember
the way you looked that night
with the stars on your ears and the moon in your lips
curving gracefully as you laughed
and danced.
I remember
glasses filled to the brim with conversation
tilted again and again as we drank our fill
of each other.
I remember
walking through echoing galleries
happy leaves and sad water lilies
bebopping to the rhythm
of the passing people
and us.
I remember
a twisted fire escape with flaking paint
halfway between the gutters and the sky
and your smile.
I remember
flickers of candlelight
alabaster
whispering sheets.
I remember.
